Default Uhh, what do these mean?

1. FTW? - I know it stands for "For the Win", but what does that mean anyway? I see people saying, "Yeah, trapping FTW" or "Over-aggro'ed, FTL" For the win, huh? Don't get it...

2. zomg/zomgzorz/pwn/pwnzorz - I see the omg, and the pwn, what are the z's and orz's for? What does pwn mean anways? I know saying, "I owned you" makes sense, but "That guy got Pwned"..? Don't get it...

3. Spike (character) LFG....example : Spike Trapper LFG...What does it mean to spike? Does that mean causing a lot of damage at once, like setting 9 traps for a single group of guys?

4. (In Deldrimor War Camp) "LFG for TA or Oro Farming" Everytime I've asked politely in the game, I get, "Go to District 2 you "insert cuss word here" noob."

5. PUGs. This has something to do with real players, not computer players, but what does it stand for?

Thanks for the responses if you have any. I'm not making fun of any computer lingo or whatever, I just feel lost when people say it, and I hear it all the time.

(By the way, I tried the search button but I guess its still disabled)

4. LFG-Looking for group, FA-Final Assault, which is one of the quests you do at Sorrow's Furnace, and Oro-Orozar Highstone, which is another quest. People go into those quest areas and kill the bosses there, but don't necessarily do the quest.

5. PUG-pick up group-generally all complete strangers, and they're usually riddled with issues and the tanks lose their minds and go rambo on everything. Sometimes I've found good groups there, but usually not.

Escatly as it means, trapping FTW means that trapping is so cool and good it rocks.
I would say SS (spitefull Spirit) FTW, since that skill is actually FTW. Got it?

2. zomg/zomgzorz/pwn/pwnzorz - I see the omg, and the pwn, what are the z's and orz's for? What does pwn mean anways? I know saying, "I owned you" makes sense, but "That guy got Pwned"..? Don't get it...

I'll let other people answer since I do not know where these came from. But I think pwn is another form of owned

3. Spike (character) LFG....example : Spike Trapper LFG...What does it mean to spike? Does that mean causing a lot of damage at once, like setting 9 traps for a single group of guys?

Spike is using a low energy skill over and over. So this is like using reversal of fortune as many times.

4. (In Deldrimor War Camp) "LFG for TA or Oro Farming" Everytime I've asked politely in the game, I get, "Go to District 2 you "insert cuss word here" noob."

Oro farming is Orozor farming. One of the quests in Surrows Furnace that spawns most if not all of the wanted bosses with nice greens.

5. PUGs. This has something to do with real players, not computer players, but what does it stand for?

Pick up Groups, basically people that you do not know and form a group with

1. For the win - basically, they're saying that whatever they're talking about is pretty good. (Or else they're being sarcastic; usually they use ftl - for the loss - then.)

2. Pwn - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pwn (Google is the search). People usually add z's to the other acronyms to be sarcastic. (Well, I hope they're being sarcastic.)

3. Spike - several teammates attack the same target at the same time. Usually the damage overwhelms whatever healing or protection the target could have. Also refers to dealing a high amount of damage, such as the spike from Eviscerate. Or spike healing... spiking just refers to a huge increase or decrease in a short amount of time.

4. FA and Oro farming - by the time they were known by these acronyms, they were already nerfed. Just do the quests and forget about them.

5. PUG - not something you want to do on a regular basis (and still keep your sanity.)

Z is the coolest letter in the alphabet having replaced X, which is still acceptable but overused by brands corporations [X-Treme! X-citing! X-cetera]. If you wish to be down with the word on the street these days; add a Z.

Yah the people above me have explained what Spike means as a Verb. However in your example you mentioned Spike Trappers, which are simply normal Trappers using the skill Spike Trap.

P.S. 'Z' is pronouced Zed not Zee. Pwdzerizedorz by teh l33t.

I've never heard someone say something with an extra Z in it in my entire life. I've never gone to work and said, "Hey what did you do this weekend?" and the guy says, "Had a pretty sick weekend, went to Mexico and saw some Hotzorz girls down at this club, it was awesomezorz!" I'm guessing putting that "orz" crap in words is just some idiotic computer lingo that I'll never understand.

And this brings up another question, what does "teh" mean? Did someone misspell "the" one day and then start typing "teh" instead? Give me a freakin break.

This thread is almost a foreign language to me.
I almost never use acronyms... The only one I use is 'lol'.

Oh and speaking of 1337...

It's pretty weird. I remember it being posted here a long time ago.

ZOMG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ZOMG is a derivative of the Internet shorthand term for "Oh My God", OMG. The term is commonly used to express humorously overwrought excitement and as a way of mocking internet slang as a whole, and is most likely representative of pushing the shift key over-zealously and sloppily, thus pushing the "Z" key in the process, on a qwerty keyboard. It has appeared on various websites and message boards, often associated with a "witty" remark or trolling. It is reasonably widespread today in the online anime and gaming communities, and is often used in its more ironic sense on internet pop-culture forums such as the IGN message boards.

Because it is a form of written slang and is not commonly used in oral conversation, there is no standard pronunciation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Usage

OMG is often followed by a variation of LOL or by an excessive series of exclamation points trailing into a numerical "1". This last convention implies the typist's ineptitude in creating a simple exclamation mark on a qwerty keyboard. A common addition to the previous scenario is to append the word "one" after the numerical "1", e.g., "ZOMG!!!!!!1111one". On some message boards, this is sarcastically extended to phrases such as "ZOMG!!!!1111onetwoeleventy111". In some cases typists will go to extreme lengths such as typing "ZOMG!!!11!1one!1cos(0)". In each case, the (self-deprecating) implication is that the typist lacks the wherewithal to type correctly.

In gaming communities, ZOMG is often followed by "hax", and cries of "ZOMG hax!" and the like may be heard when a player does anything especially impressive, implying (ironically or otherwise) that the player must be hacking the game to do so well.

Another meaning of the word suggests a usage as an odd child of the two words "Zing" and "OMG". This implies a more humorous nature to the word itself without the necessary implications of surprise that come with the acronym "OMG". Others suggest that "ZOMG hax" originally spawned in StarCraft, if a player lost quickly to a Zerg player, causing the losing player to think his opponent hacked because he won so quickly. Thus, "Zerg, OMG, hax" quickly becomes "ZOMG, hax." This was also used in the Massive multiplayer online game called Runescape.

Another derivation of the word popular among members of the Alien Swarm community is z0mg, replacing the o with a zero. When using the text to speech option that comes with Unreal Tournament 2004, the word is pronounced zee zero milligrams.

As with most pieces of internet slang, the use of "zomg" has subsequently come to be viewed as annoying in some communities, especially among those who were introduced to the phrase in its infancy and exposed to it frequently since. However, in many other circles, the use of the phrase is escalating.

I always pronounce it "zo em gee". My boyfriend prefers "zoh my god", which I admit has its own appeal.

That's just making fun of the profusion of acronyms. OMG! WTF! BBQ! It's not supposed to make sense.

A lot of these terms are a cross between some of the jokes from programmers/geeks and idiots (also known as newbs). Also throw in some of the l337 5p34k (leet speak). Once you get used to it it's no big deal, though no gamers can look at you kinda funny if you make a joke using gaming terms (I had a "-1 penalty to ram" stickers on several servers that had a bad blade of ram, I was the only one who found it amusing. Though programming and sys admin humor worked well with them)

If you are bored enough you will note a lot of simularity between these terms and ones from the jargon file (http://www.catb.org/jargon/) which is a bunch of older, and some newer, programming slang.
